Nickelback es un grupo de post-grunge y de hard rock de Hanna, Alberta (Canadá).
El estilo de Nickelback viene definido por su sonido de rock moderno en directo con tintes grunge (algunos críticos afirman que hay pequeñas influencias del heavy metal y del country en su música) y se les suele clasificar dentro del hard rock. Su cantante, guitarrista y líder, Chad Kroeger, es el elemento dominante; su voz controla y se acopla a las canciones por completo. Algunas páginas webs los han calificado como Rock, con elementos tanto de Grunge, Thrash Metal (debido a la influencia de Metallica) y Hard Rock, así que no podemos definir al grupo de una forma muy concreta.
Como muchos otros grupos, las letras de Nickelback tratan mayormente sobre vaivenes amorosos y el pequeño trecho que hay entre el amor y el odio en las relaciones. Sus primeros discos incluyen canciones sobre el abandono y el abuso parental. Raramente se sirven de metafóras en sus letras.
